New Release! Joy Clair's Heir of God

Did you hear?  Joy Clair has an amazing new May Launch!  Check out this new set in the Color By Faith Series called:  Heir of God! Today we're having the first of two blog hops to introduce you to all the new fabulous stamp sets available in the Joy Clair Shop!  If you've arrived here from Connie's blog, you're on the right track.  If not, just check out my blogroll at the bottom.  Visit the Joy Clair Blog to see more inspiration and the full line-up is listed at the bottom of my post! It's perfect for cardmaking, bible journaling, faithbooking and so much more!

When I first saw this set, the verses in 1 Timothy 1:16-17 came to mind and heart.

Christ Came to Save the Sinners...

"But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.  To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever."

My interpretation:

While it doesn't directly speak of slavery or being shackled, it speaks of the utmost of patience to those who are troubled; the sinners and those who who struggle to find their way.  He is ever so patient, allowing us time (in our own time) to discover The Way and The Light..So while our hearts and minds feel enslaved or trapped, we have time to find our way...Be patient...  And when it is time, our path will be clear...and we will be welcomed into His kingdom with open arms.

What are your thoughts?
To conclude my study, I designed this page by watercoloring the background in  YELLOW (purification/fire/light) and PURPLE (kingship, royalty).  After that, I added hints of pinks (representing right relationship) and white (purity and righteousness).  Next, I colored the castle with hints of BLUE (to represent the Holy Spirit and Authority) and the crown was colored in Golden yellows and oranges (Glory, divinity, Kingship) If you're interested in learning more about the symbolic meanings of color as they relate to the Bible, there is a great read on  Biblical Meanings of Colors
After stamping my sentiment over my watercolored background, I applied the castle and the crown and then splattered some white.  This white "fleck/splatter" represents the turbulent journey back and forth always catching pieces of His righteousness in the journey to find our way.

Thank you for hopping along with us today.  Please hop on over to Angie's blog to see what she has to share.  Remember, leave a comment on each blog for a chance to win a 25$ Gift Card to the Joy Clair Shop!

Graciellie Designs Coffee and LOVE Bible Journaling...

Hello there Graciellie/Coffee fans!  Today I'm sharing more of my bible Journaling spread that was included in the Graciellie Designs/Coffee Loving Papercrafters Collaborative Blog Hop.  If you haven't hopped along to see all the inspiring projects, just click on the image below and you'll be directed to the start of the hop!

Since the hop was so large, I kept my post somewhat small and just shared one photo and a bit of info about each of my three projects.  I thought I'd post about each project separately in another post so that those who were interested in reading more, could do so.

When I first saw this digi set, I knew immediately that it would fit perfectly with this verse in Luke.  It was a perfect match so I got to work!

I started off by prepping my pages with gel medium.  I like to use gel medium when I'm adding full ink and gelli printing.  I think the color moves around more easily and has a longer drying time, thus allowing me to really work with my design.  After applying the gel medium, I used my heat gun to dry the surface then inked up my gelli plate with some pink and purple ink.  I pressed the plate along the edge so that the color would be applied in a marble-like finish.  I again used my heat gun to dry the ink.
My next step is always pencil journaling.  I love journaling in pencil along the border and "scribble" my secrets along both edges.  These are messages and thoughts between me and my creator and are meant to be covered in my design.  They are private thoughts, so they are perfectly comfortable being covered by designs.

After journaling, I colored the flowers (in various sized prints) and fussy cut them.  I glued them to the page and then doodled some leaves that were similar in design to the digi image.  I also added a few of the leaves from the digi image onto my page.  Next, I added some Glossy Accents and some microfine glitter to the leaves and to the center of the flower.
Just a closer peek at the Gelli Plate print.  It's a watery wonder!  Love it!
The next step was to add the machine stitched strip to separate the border and the bible text.  I like this effect because not only is it purposeful, it is decorative too.
The final step was adding some distressing to the edges of the pages using Antique Gold Rub-n-Buff.  I love using this gold because it is shiny (when buffed with a cloth) and it also ages the paper.  It's a perfect combo and almost every journaling project I create includes it.
Just look at this gorgeous flower!!!

Copic Colors used in this design:
Flower: V04, RV11, BV00
Inner part of flower:  E49, E25, YR24, Y35
Leaves:  YG45, G12, G20
Stippling:  BV20, B000, B0000, B52, N2, B60, E50, C3, B60, Y23, E02, W5, RV11, G12

Thanks for stopping by again.  Stop by again tomorrow as I'll be back again to share my final project- The "Magic Erase Book".  It was a hit!

Graciellie Designs and Coffee Loving Cardmakers...The Perfect Blend Blog Hop!

Hello there Coffee Loving and Graciellie friends!  I'm excited to be joining my fellow Coffee Loving design team members and the Graciellie Designs team as we HOP for joy sharing our fun creations with Graciellie Designs newest digi set!  Graciellie Designs is offering TWO awesome hop commenters a gift certificate to their etsy shop so we encourage you to hop along, comment and enjoy!  We hope the projects shared today inspire you and make you smile (and drool).  ;)

Let's get on with the hop!  If you've arrived here from Amy's blog you're on the right track.  If you're a bit lost, you can start back at the beginning HERE

I created THREE projects using the fabulous digi set!  I love, love, love that I could print the images in a variety of sizes and could use them for not only cardmaking, but some other fun projects!

My first project is a card.  I loved stitching a whimsical "steamy" background with my sewing machine and the cup was a dream to color with my Copics!

My next project is a Bible Journaling project.  This digi set worked perfectly for this verse.
Yes, Coffee and Jesus in the morning!  FOR REAL!  a
I doodled a few of the elements from the stamp set that I had to cut off when fussy cutting the flowers from the coffee cup.  I decided to just focus on the sentiment and the flowers for this spread...
Being able to print these images in various sizes allowed me to select and color the perfect size of flower for each panel.  It also allowed me to mix and match some of the leaves so that I could really make my page gorgeously floral (and cover some of my personal journaling)
My final project is a fun little (well, kinda little) magic erase book.
I colored a large version of the digi cup with Copic Markers then cut it out.  I traced 7 additional images on white cardstock then cut those out too.  After they were all cut, I laminated each page and punched holes on the side so I could connect them together with binder rings.  Adding a few bits of ribbon finished it off.
This is such a fun way to have a book that you can keep forever.  The Sharpie marker is easily removed with stamp cleaner and a tissue and the page is wiped clean.

I hope you enjoyed my creations.  I'll be sharing more about these creations in future posts, but I wanted to keep the images and descriptions short since this is a pretty long hop.  If you are interested in reading and seeing more of these creations, stop back again in the near future!  Thank you for stopping by.

And now it's time to hop on over to Lisa's blog.  She has something quite gorgeous to share with you!

Here is the complete list of the Everyday Blog Hop:

Have fun and get inspired!!!

I selected one particular stamp set because it sang to my heart...Yes, IT REALLY SANG!  You see, I have this thing with scriptural sentiments...  They literally connect musically and I hear songs that are perfect matches...Check out what I mean!
This set is called Chain Breaker.  When you see this set and read the sentiments, does it sing to you?  Do you hear music?  I do...This is what I hear...
An exact representation of this song, right?

So I listen...and then... This is what my muse hits me with:
a soundwave....of bliss...  Can you see it?
I used the soundwave panel (after creating the stippled wave, I used some circle diecut stencil and rubbed some light blue and shimmery gold PanPastel over them)  as a backdrop for the sentiment that "got me".  Yes, this sentiment "There is POWER in the name of JESUS"...YES indeed!
I added a bit of sparkle and Apple Nuvo Drops to give a bit of dimension too.
Notice that little "Play" button?  It's from the Jesus is my Jam set that was released last month.  I also highlighted the sentiment just to give a bit of zip...

And if that isn't enough...

I connect these sentiments...and the song to scripture...and I found a perfect connection in Psalm 107:10-15.  So I brought out those chains and broke 'em up!
After applying white gesso to my panel, I stamped the sentiment and the chains with clear pigment ink then embossed with silver embossing powder.  I colored the chain with my gray Tombow marker and then rubbed gold PanPastel over the page.  The PanPastel "stuck" to the ink and then I rubbed some blue on it too.  Reading the scripture, HEART echoed through and through so I incorporated those too by doodling a few and coloring with Tombow Marker.  I also added a bit of sparkle, 'cuz you know how I feel about that!  ;)
The final touches were a few silver circle punches and a sewn strip of metallic cardstock to strengthen the page.  A little tab on the corner will help me return to this page too.
My reflections and thoughts are always scribbled in on my pages...They're usually covered up under layers and layers of paint but this time, there are a few peeks here and there...

Alrighty.  Love this set?  I bet you do!  I know it's such a fab set and I can't wait to share more with it.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you find inspiration in everything you see today! Please head on over to Helen's blog for her take on a fun new set!

A Mother's Love...

Happy Mother's Day to all the wonderful mothers out there!  I have to say, my Momma is AMAZING and I want to wish her the most fabulous day ever.  I hope she is having fun spending time with my dad in Europe and I am looking forward to when I can pick them up at the airport.

In reflecting on all my Mom's fabulous character traits, my heart was drawn to the bible verse in Proverbs.  I was particularly embraced by Proverbs 31: 25-31.  Take a glance...This is SO my mother!
I knew I had to journal this page and include some amazing and loving colors.  They remind me of her warmth, her loving spirit, her faith, her patience and her kindness...She is the She in She...and so much more.
I chose to decorate this page using Ranger Distress Oxide inks (and water) by Ranger.  I stamped the flowers from the Doodle Flowers set from Joy Clair and applied them in a cascading array across my penciled journaling.  The leaves were stamped using Memento Pear Tart ink.
This Bible passage just spoke to me and of my mom.  Every. Single. Word that was highlighted gave me a visual of my mom.  I'm so blessed to have been chosen to be her daughter.
Thank you for stopping by.  I encourage you to find your Mom in His word...Read it.  Study it. Visualize these words...You will find her.  <3 p="">

Sunday Sip and Share...Fill Me Up!

Hello there Coffee Loving friends!  It's Kerry here for another installment of Sunday Sip and Share! I hope you've been having fun hopping along with the Spring Coffee Lovers Hop!  I've been so inspired by the many awesome creations posted thus far and can't wait to see more!
Today, I'm sharing a project created in my Journaling Bible.  Hope you enjoy!
The sentiment on the coffee cup "Stir Up My Heart" inspired my search for the perfect Bible Verse and I found it in Hebrews 10:24-25.  This verse was a good reminder to me.  This stamp set called Fill me Up from Sweet n' Sassy (Creative Worship series).  I stamped the cups onto white cardstock, added some watercolor and cut them out. After that, I watercolored the pages and highlighted the scripture.
Embellishing came last.  Adding some texture by using pink tissue paper (this set came wrapped in the tissue paper!) and some sparkle washi tape and corrugated paper.
A few sketchy journaling elements and doodles over the watercolored layer helped me finish the panels off.
A closer look at the scripture helps encourage me to stir up myself and others...Be good, do good things.  Encourage others by demonstrating faithfulness and a true heart.
Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you were inspired by this creation.  As with all of my Sunday Sip and share posts, I created a sketch that you can use to make some awesome cards!  I won't add an inlinkz today so that you can add it to the coffee hop itself. Enjoy the hop and see you in blogland!  :)

Be Joyful...Tuesday Throwdown

Hello there inky friends!  Today is a JOYFUL day!  Yes indeed!  Today's a snow day for me and I'm enjoying my time off from school and decided to play along with a challenge.  I'm joining the fun over at the Tuesday Throwdown!  This week, they're featuring Joy Clair as the sponsor so I thought it would be fun to ink up a cute little stamp they shared with new friends at CHA.  I wasn't able to go this year but I was surprised to find the stamp in my most recent order.  It was a sweet treat as I wished I would have received one at CHA!!!

It was fun creating this colorful bookmark.  I used the exclusive CHA stamp as well as a hint of the Wood Background on this tag.  To color the image and the background, I lightly washed some watercolor over the cardstock.  To finish the tag off, I added some sparkle washi, some twine and a little tassel.

As Joy Clair has a foundation in faith-based stamps and inspirational sayings, I explored my bible to find the perfect verse to accompany my new bookmark.  I happened upon Proverbs 17:20-22.  It's the perfect verse for this stamp...and a little reminder to keep joy in your heart as it is some mighty fine medicine!

I sketched up an image on my bible page, sketched over with my Micron fineliner pen then colored with watercolors.  To finish off the journaling, I added a bit of gloss and sparkle to the hearts.

Here's the hoppin'-path...just follow our tasty crumbs...

For the hop, I selected the awesome Be Brave set.  This is a gorgeous LARGE 6x8 Bible Journaling Set that is complete with many, many images and scripty sentiments to help you create a page you'll revisit often.  Take a peek:
My Bible study focused on 1 Chronicles 28:20:

"Then David said to Solomon his son, BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS and do it.  Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed, for the Lord God, even my God, is with you.  He will not leave you or forsake you, until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished."

In reading, this reminded me to never question the journey we are on in this world...We must Be determined to continue to fight for what's right and never be thwarted by fear or intimidating circumstance.  No matter how scary it may be, He will be with you. Helping guide and protect you.

As I journeyed through this page spread...my artistic interpretations of this verse got a bit more "angry", more "slappy".  I was felt a sense that I was being less careful in the placement of my medium and was more determined to continue on.  Even through mistakes (my hot wax blew in directions unintended), I carried on...Not afraid of "messing it up".
In creating this page spread, I used ivory acrylic paint wash over the border.  I also blended a bit of red/pink and yellow reinker into the paint to color the medium.  After creating the base color, I applied the stamped image (Versafine Onyx) and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder.  I used Antique Silver Rub-n-Buff along the edges to age the pages as well as make them shiny.  I love how this medium just takes my pages into the "HOLY" light.  <3 .="" nbsp="" p="">
In taking a closer peek, you'll see I added some hot wax (Gold) that was melted and blown on the page using my heat gun.  The wax threads had a mind of their own and blew everywhere!  NOT exactly what I had envisioned but I pressed on, and embraced the "oopses".  I was able to gather a few pools of wax so that I could press the small feather stamp into them.  YES, you can use photopolymer stamps as impression tools!   Adding a bit of Washi tape (Target last year) and some punched/doodled/distressed hearts helped to tell the journey of my study.
As I continued on to the left side of the page, another verse called to me.  1 Chronicles 29:17-19

"I know, my God, that you test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness.  In the uprightness of my heart I have freely offered all these things, and now I have seen your people, who are present here, offering freely and joyously to you."  18 O Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep forever such purposes and thoughts in the hearts of your people, and direct their hearts toward you.  19 Grant to Solomon my son a whole heart that he may keep your commandments, your testimonies, and your statutes, performing all, and that he may build the palace for which I have made provision."

This was ever so much a reminder to ME that in these trying times for my country (and our world), I need to keep my thoughts positive and within love's light...Pure and kind...Loving and forgiving... Such a challenge...Such a task!  I pleaded with my Lord...and in my journaling, I added the banner "TEST MY HEART!"  Oh yes, indeed...Challenge me, test me and help me become a stronger person.
Thank you so very much for stopping by to visit my post.  I hope you find joy in the journey and discovery of worship through artful expressions.  Bible Journaling does indeed help me become a more reflective and thoughtful person of God.  I so appreciate the time I am able to connect spiritually and artistically.  Joy Clair stamps allow me to do that perfectly!

Now, I would like to invite you to hop over to Lindsay's blog to check out her gorgeous creation and video.  I know you're going to love it!  Remember:  Please make sure to visit each and every blog on the hop.  Make sure to comment too.  You never know, you just might be a lucky duck and win that prize!  You have until Feb. 6 (Midnight EST) to comment on each post.  Good luck!

Make a Joyful Noise! Joy Clair January Release

Hello and welcome to the Joy Clair January Release hop!  I'm excited that you are here and hope you enjoyed Cornelia Wenokor's project.  I'm here to share my creation using the amazing Joyful Noise Bible Journaling Set.

Before I get started with sharing my project, I thought I'd review a few details about our hop.  Please check them out!

The Hop features FOUR new stamp sets that can be purchased right now at Joy Clair!  They include:

Joy Clair will be awarding TWO lucky hoppers $25.00 gift cards to the Joy Clair Store!  The only requirement is that you visit each stop on the blog hop and leave a comment on their blog post.  You have from today until January 11th at midnight EST to complete the challenge.  If you do, you'll be in the drawing to receive one of the fab gift certificates!

So now, let's get on with my share:

I was inspired by the sentiments and music notes in the Joyful Noise Bible Journaling Set.  For some reason, I don't often journal from the Old Testament so it was a joy to page through in search for a perfect verse for this set.  Most of my thoughts and ideas revolved around the obvious:  Psalms,  but I wanted to dig a little deeper...and not focus on a Book that was obvious.  There were a few in the Old Testament so I was called to study Exodus...and that's what I did.
To create my page spread, I first prepared my surface using ivory acrylic paint.  This allows me to stamp and design without worry of bleeding through to the other side.  After drying the paint with my heat gun, I stamped the guitar and the music notes on the page using Versafine Onyx Ink.  I applied WOW clear embossing powder and Gold Embossing Powder to protect it from additional coloring mediums. Next, I watered down some light blue and cream (and a little lime green) acrylic paint and used it as a wash. The embossing of the guitar and the music notes helped protect the images from the watercolor. I added watered down brown acrylic paint for the guitar.
To add a bit more "age" to the piece, I rubbed a bit of Gold Pan Pastels and Antique Gold Rub-n-Buff on the pages and edges.  To finish the piece off, I added a little ribbon tab for easy reference later.  I also macramed a little book mark for this page.
Such a beautiful sentiment.  Actually, there are several sentiments so I know it will be a joy paging through my bible, studying His word and searching for just the right verses that call me hang around a little while longer...Yes, that's what Bible Journaling does for me...It helps me linger, reflect and think...that's what we all need sometimes, right?
In Exodus 15 verses 1-3, Moses and the people of Israel sang.  They sang to the LORD saying:

"I will sing to the LORD, for he has triumphed gloriously; the horse and rider he has thrown into the sea. The LORD is my strength and my song and he has become my salvation; this is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him.  The LORD is a man of war, the LORD is his name."

I spent some time reviewing and studying the Song of Moses to gather additional perspective and I sought some of my favorite bible study sources.  I also searched youtube so that I could HEAR some interesting reflection and a few sermons.  I listened to this pastor's study and sermon and enjoyed it so much.  It's quite lengthy, but worth the listen.

I hope you enjoyed my bible share today.  I hope it filled your heart and helps you remember to SING!

Please hop over to Donna's blog to see what she has to share. Thanks for stopping by and remember, if you love this set (or any of the sets released this month) please make sure to go shopping! :)
