Sunday Sip: Continuing the fun with FSJ Coffee Helps!

Hey there inky friends!  I'm back with another fun Sunday Sip feature on the Coffee Loving Cardmakers Blog and I am sharing a few more cards featuring the Coffee Helps stamp and die set from Fun Stampers Journey!  Did you happen to check out the FSJ/CLC collaboration blog hop on Friday?  If not, you'll definitely want to check out the hop!  It's FULL of amazing inspiration and will probably get you a bit thirsty!  LOL.  FSJ is offering a special prize for one lucky commenter (USA) and I'm offering a special FSJ prize pack too (NON-USA), so make sure to check it out and leave some love!

Now lets get on with today's Sip and Share post!  

My first card has a little funky Christmas theme!  I love non-traditional colors for Christmas Cards and I created this fun card that made me smile the whole time I was crafting.  As you can see, the sparkly washi peeking from behind the triangles makes for a good snowy look, right?  LOVE IT!  The little snowflake diecuts also helped to carry out the successful wintery theme!  WAHOO!  

Adding a bit of glaze on the heart helped make it shine and gave a little dimension to that heart.

To soften up the stenciled effect, I brushed water over the stenciled paint to let the paint bleed a bit.  It's a great way to soften those edges!

My second card also features the Ring Stacks stencil and the Coffee Helps Bundle.  I love the simple FUN of this card!  It's quite a departure from my usual multi layered cards but it allowed me to add a bit of multi-media effects that helped bring it past the simple CAS design.  

To create my blue panel, I painted the stencil onto the Beach Breeze cardstock and then brushed water over the stenciled design to allow the ink to bleed a little as well as to break down the fibers on the paper.  After drying the paper with my heat gun, the paper looked quite like some mulberry paper!  I really love the effect!  

Can you see how the paper is pilling up?  That wasn't an accident!  I wanted my paper to have a textured "mulberry-like" effect.  WAHOO!

Of course, adding some stitching (minus the thread) helped add another "layer" to my card.  That little Spanish sentiment from Text Happy stamp set was too perfect not to include on my card!

Sunday Sip: Six Pack

Hello there coffee loving crafters!  It's Kerry here and I'm back with another Sunday Sip for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog!  This week, I'm jumping for joy as I share a CAS card with you!!!  WOOP!!!  I did it!  I made a CAS card!  My fellow CAS challenged cardmakers can attest that this is quite a feat and one not to go unnoticed!  WOOP!  A little pat on the back and a Yee Haw is in order! 

To create my card, I cut the little square die from the Reverse Confetti Stitched Squares Confetti Cuts die and then stamped the itty bitty coffee tumbler (from the Planner ATS stamp set from Fun Stampers Journey called "Calendar Essentials") six times being careful to line them up as perfectly as I could.  I colored the cups with Leisure Arts Watercolored pencils and then stamped the strip of light blue cardstock with "Oh Happy Day" sentiment using two different blue colors.  After that, I attached it to the base of my card and attached a strip of torn vellum above that.  

I tied some Hemptique yellow twine to the card and then thought it looked a little bare (and the white cardstock had a dent in it too)...ha ha ha...so...I flicked some watercolor pencil splatters onto a piece of white cardstock and laid that over the top of the white portion of the card base to cover the imperfections.  

These colors are some of my most favorite colors during the summer months so I am extra excited about how it turned out.  I know EXACTLY who to send this card to!  WOOP!

Spring/Summer Hop Day 2: Joy Clair

Hey there coffee loving crafters/hoppers!  I'm back with my second card for the hop.  I created this card today and it features our Super Sponsor Joy Clair stamps as added goodies from Super Sponsors Right at Home, Butterfly Reflections Ink and Fun Stampers Journey!  

To create my card, I stamped the sentiment from the Coffee Quotes set onto white cardstock using VersaFine Clair Warm Breeze ink.  After that, I stamped the cups (I cut it away from the sentiment) using Memento Tuxedo Black then colored the center dots with Versafine Clair Warm Breeze, Summertime and Charming Pink.  I added more color with my watercolor pencils from Fun Stampers Journey.  

I took a little piece of leftover paper from yesterday's card to create the border.  The border was created with the yummy new Nuvo Shimmer powders that I picked up from Butterfly Reflections, Inc.  Stitching it with my sewing machine made it add a bit of added texture.  I also used the die in the Ric-Rac border from the Folded Gift Bag Die Set from Right At Home.

I mounted the design onto some FSJ vellum and mirror gold cardstock then mounted that onto a white card base.  To finish the card off, I added a few watercolored butterflies that were stamped from the ever-popular Joy Clair stamp set called Butterfly Kisses.  A few bits of gold thread and Nuvo Drops in Bubblegum Pink finished my card off.

Sunday Sip and Share: Snow Day!

Hello there Coffee Loving friends!  It's Kerry here and I am back with another Sip and Share. I'm still working through my commenting for the Coffee Lovers Hop.  I got sidetracked with the last week of school but now that I'm on winter break, I'll be able to catch up and HAVE FUN!  WOOP WOOP!

Today I'm sharing a yummy tag shaped card I created using one of my new favorites by the talented artist Krista Heij-Barber for Whimsy Stamps.  I just love her drawings and am thrilled I can now get them in stamp form (they were mostly available as digi images for cookie decorators in the past).  This image is called Hot Tubbin'.  It's currently listed as SOLD OUT but hopefully it'll come back in stock soon.  It was the perfect image for the icy day we had on Saturday.I colored the image with Copic Markers and attached it to an embossed panel.  I added some sparkle and some shine too.  The sentiment and itty-bitty snowflakes are Whimsy Stamps freebies.  The "Homemade Memories" sentiment comes from PrintWorksCollection.com.I decided to use this yummy red and blue color combo because it is one of my most favorite winter combinations.  I incorporated another tag into this card design so that I could feature the snowflakes and the sentiment as another layer.  I just love layering!  The Pierced Tag die is available at Fun Stampers Journey "Tag Elements".  I took a photo of the sparkle and shine too.  The sparkle and shine was achieved using my favorite Journey Glaze and Sparkle Dust.  To finish the card off, I added some Candy Apple Red Ribbon, Red/White bakers twine and a bit of Sparkle Bling!

Sunday Sip & Share...

Hello there coffee loving friends! I'm excited to share my FIRST Sunday Sip & Share post with you over at the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog today! Every Sunday, I'll pop in to share a little project I create and will use that card as a springboard for a sketch design.

When I create cards, I tend to just go with the flow. I hardly ever sit down with a plan in mind. I just sit, sip my coffee and create...After I'm finished with my card, I love to create a sketch that mimics the layout. It's a bit backwards but it works for me!

I love creating fun backgrounds for my stamped cards and this one was sooo fun! I used a new stencil I purchased recently from Fun Stampers Journey called Abstract Wall and applied Light Gold, Yellow Ochre and Paynes Gray Tint Pan Pastels in an overlapping color pattern. Once finished, I added some gold embossing powder here and there by dabbing my Clear Pigment Embossing Ink on the paper and edges.  

Can you can see the shimmer effect that is created on the background layer? I love that the Light Gold Pan Pastel creates such a sheer golden shine. It's so gorgeous and helps take your page to the "fancy" stage. I love this medium and it works perfectly to create the soft backgrounds that I love so much!  

After creating the background, I applied some matching ribbon and lace from my stash.  Then, I selected a few feathers to add dimension and texture, then tied it with a little twine bow.  The sentiment and beans from the Uniko set "I LOVE COFFEE" were stamped using Versafine Onyx Ink and embossed with Journey Gold Embossing Powder.  I love this gold embossing powder because it has a low heat/melt rate and it creates such a true metallic gold shine.  I elected to stamp the sentiment onto graph paper to add a little contrast to the piece.  

The colors and triangle pattern seemed a bit masculine to me so I decided to add a bit of a girly touch by adding some yummy ribbons and lace.  I think it helped feminize the card.  Adding a little feather on a whim finished the card off.
