Flawless Funnies...

Hello there stamping friends!  Today I'm joining my fellow Joy Clair design team sisters in a fun presentation of a make-up set.  You might say:  I'm not a make-up kind of person (as I did) and wonder how in the world you could make this set work for YOU sooo...I'm here to share you how you can get a few chuckles and play along.  Hope you enjoy!
Did you laugh?  I hope so!  This is a fun little quirky card that would be perfect to send to a friend feeling down or in need of a belly laugh.  I took some liberties using the Flawless set, and you can too!  In doing so, I completely got into the zone and didn't take process step photos like I usually do.  I was so focused on trying to make this set work for me that I just completely went with the flow.
I learned in art class long ago that if you don't like an image, turn, twirl and twist the image until you see something you like.  That's exactly what I did.  The compact became some giant eyes, the blusher brush bristles became some freakin' thick lashes, the cross-hatched heart became a nose, the bottom of the lipstick case became a mouth-complete with a bumpy tongue!
I set off these images using the Wood Background that I embossed in white on a bright yellow base. Adding to the quirkified look, I punched a few holes, stapled the corners, added a few dotty strips for texture and mounted it wonky-style on some graph paper and a white card base.  Totally FUN and unexpected!
And look at how awesome this tongue turned out!

Hope you enjoyed this quirky-fun card!  Now back to the other designers who stuck to the script. LOL.

May is for Beautiful Mothers...

Hello there Joy Clair Friends!  Today we're kicking off May theme challenge!  This month we're celebratin' our Momma's.  I've got another special project for my mom that will be shared on Mother's Day, but this card will be given to her before she heads off on her month long trip to Germany with my dad.  They'll enjoy some time visiting our roots in Poland (which was part of Germany at the time) and will be visiting family in Berlin.  I so wish I could be able to join them but this teacher has a job to do.

I decided to create a flowery card using a color my mom loves:  YELLOW!  The sentiment was perfect for her, and i knew it would be the star of the show.  My mom is the most loving person I know and she is such an inspiration to me.  I'm so blessed to be her daughter.

To create this card, I stamped the flower from the Flawless set using the Memento colors pictured below.  I felt these cards exuded the love and light that beams from my Momma's heart...
After stamping the flower background, I stamped the sentiment onto kraft cardstock using Tuxedo Black ink. I cut it into a banner shape and added a little sparkle washi for fun.  As my cards are never void of ribbon, twine or fibers, I added a few wraps of natural colored twine, then popped a stamped, watercolored and glossed heart over the bow.  A few more watercolored hearts would finish it off.
The sentiment banner was attached using some foam squares and the stamped panel was glued to a kraft card base.
I hope my mom has a fabulous time galavanting around and I'll be ready to pick them up when their plane arrives back home.
Thanks for stopping by!  Please come back to see my other extra-special project created especially for my mom on Mother's Day.
