Here's my creation for the hop.  I used one of my old favorites from 2006 called Sittande Tilda.  I'm lucky to still have her.  As you can see in the close up of the floral spray and the borders, I've used my Magnolia designed leaf, swirl and border dies.  I love them too!!!  I decided to color little Tilda with dark skin so I can frame it and give it to my niece as a room decoration.  Her favorite color is pink (She's three!) so the colors fit perfectly with the Christmas theme.

Fond Christmas Memories...

It's time for Magnolia-Licious Christmas All Year Long Blog Hop and this month, I decided to focus on my favorite Christmas memories. One of my most favorite things to do over the holiday season is to enjoy a performance of the Nutcracker ballet. I rememeber the first time I went to a Nutcracker ballet performance, I think I was about 8. It was a school field trip and I was living in Charleston, SC. I loved sitting and watching in awe as the mice fought with the nutcrackers, as the tree magically grew to fill the stage and underneath, hundreds of tiny dancers pranced around in a snowstorm.

Now that I'm an adult, I celebrate the spirit of Christmas with my family and try to share my experiences. This year, I hope to attend a Nutcracker performance with my nieces...It is so heartwarming to see the wonder in a little ones eyes.

This month, I created a card for the blog hop that brought me back to the Nutcracker, and all the while I was coloring this adorable maggie, I was thinking of the show. So, for this months card, I present to you....The dance of the....Well, maybe not so much a sugar plum fairy....but heck, why not!

Beat the heat...It's Christmas All Year Long!

Phew, it's so hot here. I'm ready for WINTER! School just got out and I'm ready to celebrate! To get into the MOOOD, I made a card for Christmas. Yep, it's never too soon for Christmas! I'm getting my stash built up this year so I won't end up like last year...In a mad dash to make cards for family and friends.

Every month, I am challenging myself to participate in the Magnolia-Licious Christmas All Year Blog Hop. I guess you could say it's a bit selfish, but I need some motivation to keep me going or I will end up spending the first few weeks of December making cards for family. Fellow Magnolia Friends are also participating in the hop so please take time to view their creations (your comments are a wonderful gift).

So here is this month's creation. I got this Cardkeeper in the mail this week from my friend and I was so excited to make something with it. I decided I would use it for my Christmas cards. It holds A2 cards, so I've gotta step out of my 6x6 box and make some Maggie cards using the A2 format. I'm not quite done with it yet but I wanted to get it posted tonight for the blog hop.

I LOVE this cute little Maggie. I've had her for a long time and her knitted cap is what made me want her so badly. I use her often too. I hand drew the tree (Kinda Charlie Brown) and the little pine sprigs. I just got finished teaching for the summer so I had to hurry and make this up last night so I'll make sure to show you the finished book when it's completely done.

Giving Thanks...

What a beautiful weekend! I have taken time this weekend to give thanks to those who have sacrificed themselves for the sake of all Americans. I'm thankful to all those who have died fighting for the freedom we share and seek for our future. I am posting this card, with a little note attached to all those who unselfishly gave their lives. For that, I will forever be grateful.

Sorry, there were too many copics to keep track of (over thirty) in this card. The Tilda that was used was Tilda with Bee. I just used a new Studio G Mother's day ribbon set.

I selected the background image because it reminded me of the rolling hills I saw at Arlington Cemetery and at Quantico National Cemetery. I spent some time at Quantico this weekend taking pictures, listening to the flags flap in the breeze, listening to the birds singing and listening to the silence...yes, it does have an amazing sound. It was a place to reflect on my freedoms and all those who gave it to me.

I was quite disappointed that only a few graves had a US flag posted. My personal challenge (and possibly for my school/students) for Memorial Day 2011 is to get a flag for EVERY tombstone and place it there by Memorial Day, 2011. If you would like to contribute, please inquire.

Long weekend fun...

Made this card last weekend and didn't want to post it until after the Magnolia-licious blog hop was over because I had another card posted for that. I thought it would be best to post it this weekend.

I've never tried doing the European coloring style that I love seeing so much so after I colored this image, I felt it looked a bit too bright, crisp and clean so I needed to distress it up...I was quite nervous about doing anything more with the image as I didn't want to ruin a perfectly good colored image. Well, I just gave it a whirl. It's not exactly the European style, but I was able to gray it up a bit which helped make the card and image work better together.

I'm sure you're shocked with the color of her dress...I was too. I don't like purple but dark plums and blue-purples are my favorites...as long as they arent bright colors and have a little black mixed in, I'm fine with it. Take a close look at the background paper too...I used gray to highlight the music notes and some faux stitching with my copic multiliner too...Just another finishing touch.

I'm so looking forward to my long weekend. I'm not planning anything. I'd love to visit a place called The Homestead and take some pictures at least as I've been hearing some amazing things about this place. I don't think I could EVER afford a long weekend there!




I will be heading to the Quantico National Cemetery to take some pictures with my new lens too. It's a beautiful little version of Arlington National Cemetery and it's right down the street from me. It's especially beautiful on Memorial Day.

It's Christmas All Year Long...

It's that time of the month again, Magnolia-licious Christmas All Year Long Blog Hop! This month I have a card AND a challenge for you!!!

Yes, if you have fabulousy adorable images, luscious Copic markers and some beautiful patterned paper, you can turn almost any stamp into a festive holiday centerpiece!

I created this gift/card after being inspired on Rach's blog. She posted a beautifully colored and designed card incorporating a card and a gift in one. She made and placed a tealight box at the base of the card and included some tea lights inside for the gift. She also posted a link to the template so I was excited to try making one myself...

Well, the template that was provided did not work very well for me (and I don't think it worked well for her either so she made one for herself too). I could not get it to work no matter how I folded it. So I decided to make a new template that would work for me. While making a new template, I realized the only measurement that would need to change for a different sized card, would be the "6 inch length" measurement. All the other measurments remain the same. NICE!

I'm posting the template I created to help you make your own. Now, remember, the template is not drawn to scale, but does have the correct measurements listed. Here's the template I created. Feel free to share it with your stamping friends.

After I made the box, I set out to find the perfect stamp(s) to use for this month's blog hop. I found it in a new stamp called FAIRYDUST TILDA...Yes, it is from the Fairytale Collection, but that dust also reminded me of snow and HECK...I love cold weather and wear short sleeves in the winter so POO...It's not fairy dust, ITS SNOW! I also pulled two more stamps that would work with my theme.

After selecting the images, I went to my stash of pre cut 6x6 patterned papers...I found the perfect background paper in Little Yellow Bicycle Sharon Ann Delightful Blue Lace (Retired). It was the perfect shade of blue. I then went on to selecting the Copic Colors. I pulled out my handy-dandy copic book and started with hair, then moved on to clothes, then to her face...

Here are the colors I used:

• Fairytale Tilda's Hair: E21, 31, 55
• Clothes and Presents: BG0000, B00, B12, B91, Woo, W1
• Tilda With Gifts Hair/Shoes: E 21, 31, 35, YR14
• Tilda with Knitted Hat Hair: E55, Y23, E31
• Tilda with Knitted Hat Shoes: E31, E35, W01
• White Opaque Copic for the highlights
• Diamond Glaze for the shoes
• Crystal Stickles for the sparkle
• Skin on all Tildas: E0000, E00, E01

I always color their skin last for some strange reason. After that, it was time to cut them out.

After assembling the card with all the assorted embellishments, I decided it needed one or two more Maggie images. I pulled two: Tilda With Gifts (from the Wedding Collection) and an old favorite Tilda (I'll call her Tilda with Knitted Hat). I colored both images and put some pop dots on them then tried test positioning them on the card.

I decided I liked option 2 better.

No snowy card is complete without a bit of Stickles, so I had to add that too. Martha Stewart snowflakes were punched and blinged up with brads and stickles. The stamped sentiment comes from a clear dollar Holiday set (Series 22) by Studio G. The ribbon was added to the box before gluing down to the front of the card base. It can be tied and untied to remove/insert the "gift".

Just popping in to say HI and to tell you a little secret...I'm having a....Well, I'm not having a baby, that's for sure!

I'm having a BLOG CHALLENGE!

I happened upon this AMAZING STAMPING BLOG and just started drooling over the amazing coloring and also found this cool card. That got me thinking about what I'm going to do this weekend.

I'm set to make a Christmas card for the Magnolia-licious Christmas All Year Blog hop on May 25 and THIS IS THE PERFECT TEMPLATE!!! So, I'm going to do a little challenge too.

Make a Wish!

I've been spending a little time trying to ink up my most recent Magnolia purchases and I've got a lot to go but did get this one inked up and assembled onto a card today. Like many others, I make cards for the fun of it and that often means if I want to sit down to make a BIRTHDAY card or another THEMED card, it doesn't end up being one in the end. I just can't force my scattered muse to focus on one thing...she has a mind of her own and I just follow along.

So here's what I made this afternoon: It may look like I did a little masking with the fence, but no, I just stamped tilda, then the fence over her, then stamped another tilda and cut her out to paste over the top (a little longer than the real stamp....maybe I need to make a video of how I did it). Just a little hint on the cut edges: I run a gray marker over the edge to soften it up and make the cuts "fade away".

So maybe, just maybe, this card will work for a girly birthday card. This May, I've got a boy birthday card to make, a girl birthday card to make, three mother's day cards for my sisters and a birthday card for my aunt to make this month so I sure hope my muse will cooperate!

I also have begun the BIG job of cleaning out my "crap" room and organizing it up A LOT...so, perhaps this little magical Tilda is giving me a little support. If only that magic wand would work in my room.

Purple Passion

Here's another card I worked on over the weekend. The image was colored a few weeks ago. I tend to dislike purples except for the hydrangea (bluish) purples so this was a bit of a stretch for me. I think the colors (even the purples) are still in my safety zone though.
At the moment, I'm infatuated with Martha Stewart's Three Hydrangea punch and seem to use it on almost every card. Oh yes, I do have oodles and oodles of Prima Flowers, but for some reason or another, I just don't seem to grab them.

Well, I've had this image (and another too) all colored up for almost two weeks but haven't had any free time to put a card together with it. Today, I was finally able to give her a home! I purchased this stamp from Claudia Rosa quite a while back (she sold some extras she got from her DT experiences) and hadn't inked her up until recently. I thought after I returned from my Carribbean cruise and beachy adventures, I just had to pull her out and ink her up!
What a coincidence it was that someone posted that she was looking for the perfect stamp for her daughter's Luau birthday. I thought immdeiately of this stamp. Although I didn't create a Luau card, it would fit perfectly with the theme don't you think?

Mother's Day Treasures...

I had some time to play in my stamping room this weekend and decided to start making some Mother's Day items for my Etsy shop. Not sure if this is one item that's going there or not. I like it so much I might give it to my mom...We'll see...

So here it is...a shadow box. I love making shadow boxes!


This initially started out as a 6x6 card but I liked it so much that I decided to trim it down so it could fit into a 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 shadow box. I painted the shadow box to match the patterned paper. The image was completely cut out and applied to another stamped image (that was highlighted with BG0000 to give it some added depth, highlighting, and texture.

Happy Spring!

Oh what a glorious weekend. Have been spending time outside cleaning up my yard this weekend. Hopefully this spring I can get some grass to grow in my front yard. Such a terrible time keeping the moss from taking over my front yard. The soil is like hard packed clay so that's pretty much the only thing that likes to grow.

Spent a little time this weekend working on some cards so thought I would post them today. The first card is a get well card for a fellow Maggie lover. Since it's past Easter and I haven't had much time to play with my newest easter Magnolia stamps, I thought I'd turn Tilda with Eggs in Apron into FLOWERS in apron. I think it works! I see this stamp is going to be very versatile!

New Bunnies in the house!

Yipee! I've been waiting patiently for my new Magnolia stamps to arrive and they finally hopped into my mailbox on Friday!!! Yeah, I've got some cute, cute, cute easter stamps from the HOPPY EASTER collection...

Introducing: Bunny Tilda and Three eggs. Cute huh? Now I've got to figure out who I'm going to send it to.

I've got a bunch more to ink up too and a VERY short time to do it!

What a beautiful day in the neighborhood...

Oh, it's so lovely today. I opened my door and let the fresh air come in for the first time in AGES! I also had time today to head out and chop that tree down in my front yard that fell over in the big snowstorm. After that, I decided to head out to the beauty shop to get a much needed haircut. Well, she chopped a lot off and I now have a new doo. (and she did my eyebrows too) so I guess now, all I have to do is wash that gray right out of my hair and I'll really be ready for my Spring Break in a few weeks.

I also had some time this weekend to work on a card for a special friend on the magnolia-licious yahoo group. Oh yes, there is a group for all those addicted to Magnolia stamps! Hmmm..I wonder how much a trip to Sweden is? I'd love to visit the shop! Anyway, here's my card. The theme was "Green" (I guess to relate to spring and St. Pat's day) but boy, my GREEN turned into what now looks like a FALL card. Oh, well, I love these colors anyway.

OK, yes, I did add a bit of doodling to this creation. Those of you who really know me know that I love to doodle so this worked really well for this card. I added some "eyelet" as you can see. The pattern matches the three dots on Tilda's shirt. I also added some little doodle vines that mimic the vine/flower on her jeans. Decided not to stamp a sentiment but rather, wrote my own sentiment on a piece of torn paper from my notebook. I used the torn paper because there seemed to be too much white space and by adding that white paper, it just disappeared!

Toss the beads!

I'd NEVER get any beads on Bourbon Street but heck, I can still celebrate Mardi Gras right??? Getting excited about the upcoming spring break vacation and Easter coming soon. I was inspired by a fellow stamper a few days ago when she made a card for Mardi Gras...I decided to do one of my own. I took one of my favorite Magnolia images, colored her up in Purples and Greens and made her a mask (complete with glitter and feathers) to head out on the town. Too bad I forgot to give her some beads! LOL...

Just a note...

Made this card for Magnolia Challenge Week 14. We were challenged to use buttons. I love buttons but don't seem to use them much. Yes, as you can see I do have them...LOTS OF THEM...They just sit pretty in a mason jar on my shelf! Gotta use more of them for sure.

See that background patterned paper? That was my color inspiration. I got an 8 pack of cards in the dollar bin at Target a while back and thought the colors were perfect for a fun summer card...I didn't think I was going to cut it all apart, but I did for this card! After cutting it out, I searched my stash for some coordinating cardstock. The apricot cardstock is from Michael's and it has this shimmery effect (DEEELISH!).

Back to school? Naahhh...Just thought I'd make a card to send virtually to all my students. I am so proud of them. Almost my whole class passed (all but 2) their state testing in Math, Science, Social Studies and Reading. Many of my students even performed at advanced proficiency! I'm so happy for them. They worked hard all year!!! I made this card in my school colors GO WILDCATS!

I wasn't initially going to use this patterned paper but after searching high and low through my MASSIVE stack of 12x12 cardstock (sure it's old and outdated) I decided to use some of this neglected paper and not go out shopping for some NEW paper. I have to somehow get rid of all the paper I have and STOP buying new stuff every time I want to make something. Anyway, I'm done ranting and raving...Now back to the details... This little lady is so cute isn't she? Her name is called TILDA WITH SLATE and she's from the School and Travel collection. I knew for sure that I had to have her in my school collection after all, a teacher HAS to have some school stamps she can use at home right?

I colored some of her hair and the slate she is holding with a black multiliner. HI is written with my Inksentials pen. After she was colored, I decided I needed to make her have a BIG blackboard too so I created her background using RAVEN Bazzill and stamped it with a retired TAC set in my school stamp collection. I used White Staz-On for the "chalk" sentiment.
