Flowery Hello...design-seeds inspiration

This color combo was a doozie!  It took several attempts to get it just right, and in the end, I just had to say ok enough is enough...move on to the next color-combo.

This card was what I finally came up with after a day or so trying...
I think I'm missing the green color but I just couldn't incorporate that anywhere other than if you use your imagination a LOT in the distressing of the blue over the yellow in the lower right corner.
I think the rusty color of the bow and stamped "flower thingie" was more of a match than I had originally anticipated as I looked closely at the swatch color given instead of looking directly at the contrast of red/yellow in the flowers.  Since I didn't have a closer match (more red), I went with the rusty red ink.  I think had it been any redder, it would have been too much of a diversion from the color triad on the color wheel.
I thought the sentiment matched very well with the distressed look of the patterned paper.  Adding that little sprig of baby's breath in canatloupe also helped me match the color scheme and make the sentiment blend in much better.

Materials used:  Old Recollections patterned paper by Daisyd's
Cottonwood card base and stamping base from The Paper Company
Stamp set:  Tim Holtz Flights of Fancy for Stamper's Anonymous
Inks:  Memento Potter's Clay, Cantaloupe ,Versamagic Ocean Depth
Spellbinders Die:  Labels Seventeen
Stickles:  Stardust
Pop Dots
Rusty colored seam binding
Cream button from SEI

Thanks for stopping by.  I appreciate your comments too!

Sweet love birds...design-seeds inspiration

I started working on some Valentines today.  This color scheme is perfect for Valentines day.  I decided to create a few bookmarks that I can give away on this special day.  I have been keeping a TON of bookmark plastic envelopes for several years and thought it would be a good time to use them!
I took the opportunity to use up some of my patterned paper stash too!  WOO HOO!
Notice the little googly eye heart?  That's my newest Unity Stamp of the week called Smiley Hearts...Perfect fit, huh?  The little banner is a diecut from the FABULOUS Polaroid Die set from Sweet Stamp Shop!
I wrote the sentiment by hand because I didn't have a cursive READ stamp.  Hmmm...Wonder who can make one for me.  I think a whole set of bookmark appropriate stamps would be fun!
But the most important thing is...what you see in that four letter word up there...
READ!

See you around!

February Reds...design-seeds inspiration

Hey stamping friends!  I've been busy working on a variety of projects so I pushed this color challenge post to Sunday instead of Saturday this week.  As I'm typing, it's actually Saturday, so I'm safe and I met my goal.

I decided to start off the month of Feburary picking some reds...You know, Valentine-ey colors!  I really liked this combo of colors so I picked this picture.  BOY was it hard finding just the right colors in my stash. Not sure if they match perfectly, but they'll do, I guess.
I pulled in the reds and burgundy colors using inks, some copic coloring on the stick pins and one of the mats on the oval sentiment.  I also added some stamping with really light pink ink on the cream rectangular piece.
Take a closer look and I hope you'll see the faint stamping of flowers...It's there!
Notice the card base?  I got that "paper" several years ago.  It's actually plastic.  I call it Milk Jug paper because it is just like those plastic milk jugs, just flat.  It's fun, but hard to work with.  I just used it on the front panel, then scored the top and attached two panels of red cardstock on the back to sandwich the flap in between and make it neat and tidy.

See you next Saturday for another design-seeds inspiration.

Serene Snow...design-seeds inspiration

Yipee!  This week I finally got the snow I've been wishing for...Well, kinda.  Although it was only a dusting, it made me smile!  Thursday we had a 2 hour delay at school and Friday we left 2 hours early ahead of another expected dose of snow.
I was able to come home and rest a bit, then decided to head to my stamping room.  I headed to design-seeds.com to search for just a perfect snowy picture...GOT IT!  YIPEE!!!  After selecting the picture, I headed up to my room to create a card with those colors.
I kept this card clean and simple, just like the snow we got the other day.  I added the pop of light yellow and tan by incorporating a button and a scrap of ribbon.
And...because the card was a bit "flat" for my liking, I added some dots of Platinum Stickles in the centers of the flowers.

Stamps:  Tim Holtz; Heartfelt
Ink:  Memento Gray
Stickles:  Platinum
Ribbon:  Ribbon and Bows Oh My
Button:  SEI
Cardstock:  Natural from The Paper Company

Have a great week!  PS.  Remember, there are only a few more days in my drawing for the FREE TIM HOLTZ set pictured HERE.  Just comment on that post to be placed into the drawing.  EASY PEASY!

Wintery Hello...design-seeds inspiration

Oh drats!  I was so wishing for the big snowstorm to hit my area this week.  I just LOVE snow and I'm really missing it this year.  I hope the snow fairies come around again and sprinkle a little love dust here...

Until then, I'll just have to settle with the cool color combo above and a little time in my stamping room.  Hmphhhh...
A few banners, some ribbon, and new stamps from Red Rubber Design, help create this cozy little card.  Using up some assorted scraps and some shabby stitching complete the project.
Stamps:  Red Rubber Designs:  Victorian Hearts
Patterned Paper:  The Paper Loft:  Serendipity-#SD108 Destiny
Cardstock:  Old scraps, Bazzill Vintage, Sea Salt
Crepe Paper:  Melissa Frances
Ribbon from stash
I'll be back tomorrow with some additional treats made with the RRD Victorian Hearts stamp set!  Stop in!

Hello Again...design-seeds inspiration

There's something about that script...It makes me think of a lazy Saturday morning with my cup of steamy coffee.  I used the picture above to create a cozy little card with the colors and that script in mind.
I pulled a lot of scraps from my scrap bin to create this quick and easy card.  I loved arranging the papers in layers to incorporate just a hint of each color.  I wanted the focus to be on the yellowy colored patterned paper (old Sassafrass Lass) and the simple layout design.
The sentiment from The Stamps of Life "stamped4you" set was stamped with Versafine Onyx ink and I added a little bit of red Stickles to the heart (Who likes a black heart???)  A close-up of the ribbon shows I folded it over slightly to create a little interest.

Of course, no card of mine is complete without a little ribbon. Hee Hee.
Simple, fun and "perky" this morning!  See you around for another inspirational seed...
