Woodware Monday...Anything Goes...

A few weeks ago I received an order from twopeas with TONS of 6x6 patterned paper pads.  I've been working hard to use paper from them and even made a point of it by placing the packs right on my workspace...In My FACE, so to speak...Now I think I'll use them and not just keep them on my shelf!
So I decided to use this pretty paper collection from Sassafras Wee Bundle. It's got some BEAUTIFUL papers in it! I knew I wanted to use the strip of flowery paper and the cross stitch pattern but had no idea how I would incorporate them into a card. SO I spent over an hour twisting, rotating and arranging the paper on my yellow card base before finally deciding on a layout. The tag just happened to be on my desk from another project I was working on (I've got six of these tags made) and I thought it worked PERFECTLY for the sentiment (Salutations) on this card. Breaks up the horizontal "strippyness" of the card, I think. This card measures 3 1/2 x 5 1/2 so it's a bit skinnier than the average A2 card.

The tag was painted with layers of teal, opal and crackle paint then doodled with a white paint pen.  Strung the buttons on some hot pink DMC floss and tied it on the front of the card.

Make sure to stop over to the WoodwareUSA blog for additional inspiration for this "Anything Goes" challenge.  Join the fun by posting your creation on the challenge.  You just may be the lucky one to win NEW stamps!!!

Fun In The Sun!

It's cold here but that doesn't mean Froggies can't go to the beach! When I saw these little froggies at DRS Designs, I knew I had to have them! My parents (and other family) usually go on cruises throughout the year and these little froggies would make PERFECT bon voyage cards! My mom loves to sit and read on the beach while my dad loves to snorkel and SCUBA dive. Meant to be right?

The other week, I received an email from DRS Designs inviting me to try out their stamps. I was to select a few stamps, make a card, share it, then mail it on to them. Now, who would pass up a fabulous opportunity like this? NOT ME!!! I hopped right on the website and started searching for the three PERFECT stamps. It was difficult to choose from such a huge collection of stamps, but when I saw these unique little froggies, I knew they were going to be my FIRST EVER DRS Designs stamps...They won't be my last.

Don't these little froggies remind you of the old-time swimming photos of years gone by? Remember the fun people had on Coney Island (The photos I've seen look like it was a blast!)...This is exactly what they wore. LOVE it!!! I decided to make a card that included a hand drawn pier...because there WAS a story these little froggies wanted to tell...

Now here's the story:

Mr. and Mrs. Froggy just disembarked the SS Pollywog for a little FUN in the sun. The walk down the pier was a careful dance...I mean, have you ever walked down a steaming hot wood dock with no shoes on??? It's like walking down a long path of needles and hot coals with the temptation to jump to safety on your left and your right! NOT FUN...So they danced, hopped, and ooh, ohh, oohed so fast down that pier until they hit the sandy beach...OUCH! HOT TOO! Well, I guess they need to throw down their towels or dip their blistered toes in the cool water.
Oh no! Mr. Froggy forgot his towel! How is he ever going to keep that sand off his precious skin? Don't worry, Mrs. Froggy is always prepared! Inside that little heart-shaped purse is her emergency key. That key allows her access to a boardwalk locker that provides an unlimited amount of drinkie-drinkies, snacks for HER MAN, and of course, the towels and sunblock she'll have to plaster all over Mr. Froggy's nose, shoulders, and legs! Leave it to Mrs. Froggie to always save the day!

Stamps Used: Frog Sunbather (UM), Snorkle Frog (UM), Fun in the Sun (UM Sentiment)

Thanks DRS Designs for the opportunity to play with such an awesome group of stamps! I'm looking forward to stamping many, many, many more creations using DRS Designs stamps!

Magic Potion anyone?

Hey!
A few days ago, while shopping for Halloween candy in Target, I happened upon some WINE in the candy section! Huh? Wine with candy??? Well, I guess it had a BLACK label, so does that make it Halloween-ie??? I picked some up and wandered more through the store...How can I make this Halloween-ie? I kept asking myself. Then it dawned on me while down the glass vase aisle! The TALL bud vase just spoke to me! Yes, I guess it was those mysterious spirits (pun intended) but I just had to pick one up. I'll fill some of that wine up into one of those bud vases, add a straw and a tag and it'll be PERFECT!!! BLOOD RED WINE IN A TALL TALL GLASS!!! YES!!!
So I came home all bouncy with excitement and headed to my lab-o-ra-tor-y...you know, The one with all those pots and pans? Oh, yeah, I don't use the kitchen that much but for now, it's my LAB!
I carefully opened my bottle '0 booze and poured it into my bud (no, not beer) vase. I tasted it...YUCK! Too bitter...I like dessert wine. The kind that's sweet and tasty, not anything like chewing on a lemon peel. So I went to the big fridge 'cuz that's where all scientists keep their perishable ingredients you know. Pulled out some special concoction called Lingonberry concentrate (I get it at Ikea) and some bubbly French stuff called Perrier...Mix it all up and VOILA! I have my Mystical brew...DEEELISH...

Kerry's Magic Potion

1 shot Red Wine
1 shot Lingonberry Concentrate
Perrier or seltzer water to taste
Give it a try! Don't have too many...Or you'll end up just like that dragon...draggin' or snoozin'!
Here's the cute concoction ready and waiting for you. Come on over!!! I'll have one waiting with your name on it!

Anything Goes...

Well, I'm still borrowing a computer from school but did have a chance to upload a card. Not the greatest photo but it'll do today.

For the Anything Goes challenge on the Woodware USA blog, I decided to make a baby card with the Patch Alphabet set, a stencil I picked up in the Tessler booth at the CK convention last Saturday (I ran the stencil through my Cuttlebug). I also tried out the Blue Chunks (LOVE THE NAME) ink Andre recently posted in the store. It's deeelish ink and stamps beautifully. It reminds me of the way Versacolor ink stamps...juicy...not so sticky, great coverage... LOVE it. I stamped the little flowers from the stamp set on the little squares. I also pulled in a little chalk too...I thought the white was just a bit too bright.

I also got away from using Copics this time. I pulled out my Gamsol, blending stumps and started coloring with my colored pencils...Haven't used that technique in FOR-EVAH!

Here are pics of the WoodwareUSA products I used:

Here's the finished product:
