Happy National Iced Tea Day

Hello there inky friends!  Today I'm joining my fellow Coffee Loving papercrafters as we celebrate National Iced Tea Day!  I'm drinking more iced tea than ever in this hot heat and I was excited to whip up a card that featured this yummy drink today.  Want to play along?  Just hop right over to the Coffee Loving Cardmakers blog and play along.  We'll be giving one lucky crafter a special prize too!!!

I was inspired by my yummy Thai Tea/Blueberry iced tea for this card.  It's so delicious and refreshing and the little blueberry "pearls" at the bottom make this drink such a tasty treat!

Thai tea is a mix of looseleaf teas, spices (like vanilla and chai) and some natural dye that makes it the iconic orange rusty color.  It also has a hint of sweetener.  I steep it in the sun and then strain it into a mason jar full of ice.  After that, I add some thawed blueberries (and the blueberry juice) add a little milk and voila!  It's so yummy!
So to create my card, I searched HI and LOW for a mason jar stamp.  Since I didn't have one in my stash, I searched and found a free mason jar clip art available HERE online.  I downloaded it and created a sheet of images in MS Word.

After printing the mason jar images, I colored one up using a variety of Copic markers and then fussy cut it.  Then I added some clear glaze to make it shine and set it aside.
After the glaze dried, I assembled the the card panel using some coordinating printed paper from my stash.  I also added some yummy buttons and country chic ribbon.
Just take a look at this gorgeous drink!  The orange color really makes it pop and its so delicious!  I could just live on this during the summer months.  Make sure to give it a try!

Thanks for hopping over to the blog and I hope you enjoyed my virtual iced tea drink and coordinating card!  YUM YUM!  GO out and drink some iced tea today!!!

  18. Kerry, not sure if I would like the blueberry mixed with the milk and tea, but maybe I will brave it one day! I am more of a lemon or raspberry tea kind of gal. I know, boring! But I adore your card and so admire your resourcefulness! That is a wonderful clip art and you did a wonderful job recreating your special drink! The ribbon and button really give it a down-home feel! Cheers to tea!!!!
