I'm excited to join the Coffee Loving Design Team in welcoming you to the Fall Coffee Lovers Hop! I'm sure this hop will break records for participation and for awesomeness...just as in hops of the past! Just you wait, will we hit over 800 link-ups???
Let's take a peek at my first fun creation for the hop. I'm sure you'll GASP because I created something CAS!!! Yeah, you read that right! I about patted myself on the back for this one! I have very little restraint when it comes to cardmaking and I love adding layer upon layer of yummy goodness to my cards but something weird came over me. Maybe it's my cold, or my aching back...I don't know...all I know is I was victorious in creating the elusive CAS card! Snaps for me!!!
So wanna see what I'm talking about? Hold on to your seat...Don't faint!
Really, I earn a GOLD Star right? WOOO HOO!!!
So to create this fabulous, once in a lifetime CAS card, I washed a bit of Ranger Walnut Stain ink onto some watercolor paper, splattered some Ranger Peeled Paint ink and some Walnut Stain ink onto the dry watercolored paper, then splattered a tiny bit of Orange Rave Silk onto that. I selected the fun mug image and sentiments from one of our Super Sponsors: "Coffee is my Liquid Therapy" by A Creative Journey with Melissa. I stamped the sentiment words all over the mug using Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Hazelnut Blend ink and the heart was stamped with Cranberry Bliss ink. I stamped the "Hello Friend" sentiment onto a hand doodled thought bubble. The images were cut out and some twine was added. The little wooden heart button was the finishing touch!
Just look at that yummy splatter! I just LURRRVE it!!! Perfect fall colors, dontcha think?!
This little inked panel was mounted to a Kraft Cardstock panel and mounted onto an Olive Green Card Base. Hope you enjoyed this little number! If you LOVE the stamp set as much as I do, head on over to Melissa's store! Make sure to enter the special discount code FCLH2016 to receive an extra 25% off your entire order (offer good until 10/3)
Oh, I like all of the words on the cup and the word bubble. How FUN for tea and coffee.

ReplyDeleteThanks Rebecca. I'm a splatter-a-holic! Ha!
DeleteLet's talk silk....love the look of it on your card...Is it a nail polish consistency? Is the green distress ink...LOVE your clean + crisp card Kerry...it's awesome.
ReplyDeleteAmy, Silk is absolutely deeeevine. It comes in a little fingernail polish bottle. It's water based and most contain metallic elements that when shaken and mixed, create a fun metallic element on the paper. It's thin and all you have to do is open the bottle and tap, tap, tap on the handle and voila...Instant splatter! If you've used Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, just imagine it a bit thicker and in a little nail polish bottle!
DeleteWoW!! Your card is amazing!! Love the splattered background, design, coffee cup... everything!! :o)

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card! I love using Distress Inks for backgrounds and splatters, too. I really like the bubble sentiment and the use of twine and the wooden button.
ReplyDeleteThanks Teri...I will say, the bubble sentiment was created to cover an oops...I didn't like how my sentiment stamped directly onto the watercolor paper so I had to fix that with a cover up! :)

DeleteAww such a gorgeous card, Kerry! Love watercolored background and your whole design! Thank you for inspiration:)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Dana. I love watercoloring. I think adding layers upon layers of watercolor to achieve depth and dimension are one of my favorite techniques!
Deleteyour card looks anything but clean and simple, this would take me forever to conceptualize..
ReplyDeleteThanks for your opinion on my version of CAS. I do believe CAS can come in many forms...My CAS (as compared to all my other creations) is very much CAS to me. Take a look at my other creations on my blog and you might understand why I consider this CAS. When I work, I go with the flow...I don't conceptualize or think through..I just take a journey. It's very difficult for me to hold the reins on my muse...so when I can hold her back...I'm very proud of my accomplishment! Thanks for stopping by! :)
DeleteIt's supercute, and I love the splatter paper, but when did 4 layers and and 2 embellishments start being "clean and simple"?
ReplyDeleteIf you know my work Juliet (and you have been here before), I hope you can understand that this is as CAS as I get. What you and a few others consider CAS (limited to a one layer card with an image stamped on it), does not mean all others feel the same. Thank you anyway for stopping by my blog. Have a nice day.
DeleteLOVE this! Love the yummy background and the awesome cup! Thanks so much for all of your inspiration along the way... I don't always have a chance to stop and let you know but you are an inspiration!
