Woodware Monday...Gettin' Sketchy...

Hey stamping friends.  It's MONDAY and that means it's Woodware USA Blog Challenge day!  Every Monday the Woodware USA design team brings some fun and fabulous creations to you in the form of a challenge...If you choose to take part in the challenge, you are entered into a drawing for a FREE stamp set and BOY oh BOY...there's no time like this week to join the challenge!

DID YOU KNOW THAT the 2011 FALL stamp collection have been released???  Andre totally surprised us when he posted them to the store!!!  OH MY GOODNESS...YUMMY is all I can say.  I've already placed an order.  and can't wait to get them inked up!  Why not stop over at the webstore and check out the NEWEST stamps to the collection.  Lemme know your new favorite, too...I'm doing a secret poll!  LOL..

This week's challenge is a fun one.  I designed a sketch for you to play with.  It's a fun sketch and it incorporates some simple layout design and of course, a little bit of embellishing fun!  So here's my sketch:
When I design sketches, I just go with the flow...I don't stop until I think it looks...perfect...The crucial part is in creating a card that looks just as perfect.  I always wonder if something fabulous can be made from the sketch because I've had some DUDS...let me tell you!

I can say that this has to be one of my most favorite sketches EVER!  I LOVED how my card ended up coming out and I think it has so much to do with the sketch.  It works so well wit those sentiment circles I love to make.  Hey, come to think of it, did you know that you can turn many of your WoodwareUSA sentiments into circular formation stamps?  Another beautiful thing about clear stamps is that you can manipulate them into any shape or "flow" on the block.  I didn't do that with this card as the sentiment was already in a circular form.
So here's my card.  I got some cream crepe paper at the Melissa Frances booth at CKC Valley Forge a few weeks ago because I loved all the projects they had in their booth that incorporated it.  I could have shopped that booth forever that day...so shabby, so pretty, so beautiful!!!  If you look closely at the flower in the center of the "medallion", you can see that I created it from the crepe paper too.  Pretty simple to create actually.  I colored the crepe paper with some Ranger Spun Sugar ink to make it really girly then punched some circles out.  After that, I folded the circles in quarters and just cut some strips with my scissors.  I opened up the cut circles and glued/layered them on top of each other then "szhusshed" (Really technical, huh?) them up a bit...Voila!  The little blossom brad in the center has been in my stash forever and I have never used it-so I think it found the perfect spot on this card!
This ribbon had to have a little something so I added a bit of bling...just a touch, right?
I also distressed the edges of the patterned paper (Valentine Die Cut Cardmaking pad by Kelly Panacci for Kand Co).
Love the Circular Greetings!!!

Woodware Monday...a Sketch Challenge!

Hey, Hey! Welcome to MONDAY!  I'm getting so excited because I have only two half days left of school!!! I'm SOOOO ready for summer vacation!!!

It's time to break out a new challenge!  This week at Woodware USA blog, we're using a sketch I created to inspire you.  I just love creating sketches and it's such an honor to have been invited to share them with you!!!

This is such a simple sketch! It's so versatile too.
Here's my card inspired by the sketch:
I used a couple sets to create this country chic card.  Leafy Swirls and Circular Greetings combine to create the perfect card!  To create the top and bottom border, I used a Martha Stewart punch.  Oh and forgive the tattered stitching...My machine was giving me fits!
Please hop over to the WoodwareUSA blog to check out my fellow DT sister's interpretations of this sketch.  Join the fun and create something too.  I'd love to see what you make of it.  You just might win a free stamp set!!!

Happy Birthday, Haily....

Hey stampers!  Just checkin' in this Monday to share some leftovers from my niece's birthday party this weekend....Sorry, the only leftovers are these yummy pictures!!!

I was asked to make the cupcakes to fit her "Movie Premiere-Red Carpet Night" themed party.  It was so funny to see giggling girls decked to the NINES-complete with fancy dresses, big gaudy jewelry, HIGH heels and of course mini Golden Statues... I was also pegged as the paparazzi so I was taking shots of them on the red carpet (yes, I brought over a red carpet runner for them to walk on!) and fighting over their awards.

So back to the cupcakes...They were really deelish!  Made from the FINEST Duncan Hines Yellow cake mix around, fluffy icing by Duncan Hines...with a dash of lemon flavoring to add extra flavor.....

So, it was all in the decorations for sure...I made the little star chocolates to go on top, sprinkled the frosting with black sugar crystals and edible golden stars, then topped them all off with some FABULOUS cupcake toppers.  Yeah, made those with the Woodware set:  Circular Greetings.  Yes they were YUMMY...and next time I make some of these cupcakes, the're going to have some lemon curd squeezed inside....It would have been even better!
So this week at the WoodwareUSA blog it's all about the SENTIMENT....Join the party and create something focusing on ...SENTIMENT...you just may win a Woodware USA set of your very own!!!

Happy stamping!

Challenge #2...One Layer Cards

I added some black puff paint to the cover up the PINK centers on the ribbon.
Hello Stampers!

Today begins the newest challenge on the WoodwareUSA blog. This week, the challenge is to make a card using only ONE layer! That's hard for me since I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE patterned paper, stitching, cutting and layering...I tried my hardest to complete the challenge though.

I stepped away from creating a white card by using a single piece of Orange Bazzill cardstock from my stash.  Yes, orange...I don't know why.  maybe it was the flower stamp I pulled from the set Circular Greetings...I love that set.  Or maybe it was the orange Stickles I have had stitting on my work table for YEARS.  Or perhaps it was the fun yellow ribbon that I just HAD to use right then.   I don't know, but I think I like how it turned out!!!  Just a handy little HELLO (Stamp Set is called LARGE SMALL GREETINGS) card to send out in a pinch, I guess.  PLUS...I love the layout and can see it repeated in a variety of colors too!!!

Hope you take part in the challenge this week.

Here are the rules for the challenge:
