My thoughts and prayers are with you....

Found out the other day that my Aunt Chen in Alaska has breast cancer and is having a radical mastectomy this Friday. I haven't seen her since my Grandpa died and don't talk to her often so I was shocked with the news. She's a funny lady, doesn't take any SH*T from anyone, and she's a wonderful quilter. She and my uncle have lived in a cabin in Alaska on the Kenai river since I was a child (they retired from the Air Force and stayed there). She LOVES to cook, fish, and smoke thier own salmon.

When I heard the news from my mom yesterday, I went right up to my craft room and sat in my chair trying to think of some kind of card that would encourage, support, and comfort her at this time. She's been through stressful and scary health situations before but this seems different to me. After sitting and thinking for quite a while, I finally realized that I had something that would be perfect...A stamp set that was from Club Scrap that I had used maybe once. The set is called the Kit for a Cause and it supports Breast Cancer Awareness. There were lots of flowers and several sentiments to choose from and it was a hard decision to make but I finally decided on the flower background in (Tangerine Versamagic ink) and the sentiment "courage" (Chocolate Versamagic ink)...I then thought it needed a butterfly...I don't know why, but just thought it fit. I also added the polka dot/lace border stamp from Outlines.
So here it is...I hope it gives her comfort and lets her know I'm thinking of her, even if it will arrive after her surgery date.

PS...If you would, please take time out on Friday to say a little prayer for my Aunt Chen. Thanks!

Kerry
