No, I haven't gotten marching orders but I was challenged to create a card (or more) to send to troops and their families. The challenge is called "Holiday Mail For Heroes" and it's sponsored by the American Red Cross. Find out more about this program by visiting HERE. These cards are being collected and mailed to military personnel and their families here and abroad. If you are interested in sending cards, mail them to the following address:

Holiday Mail For Heroes
P.O. Box 5456
Capitol Heights, MD 20791-5456
I am also doing a service project with my third grade students this year that is directly related to this project. Since I teach at a school very close to a military base (actually, there are several bases around me), my students make cards to send over to the base next to our school. We'll do that again this year, but will also be adding some cards and gifts to take to some military hospitals in the area. If you want to contribute to this cause, please post a message and I'll email you the address to our school. We'll deliver the cards before Dec. 23.
